Privacy Policy mobile app
Last updated: 5 August 2026. This Privacy Policy covers the Street Artwork mobile app for iOS and Android, published by Alexandre Rabottin (4 allée Richemont, 44000 Nantes, France), and the account features it shares with the website street-artwork.com.
The app is free to download. It is funded by advertising and by an optional paid tier (Hunter Pro / Hunter Premium). This page tells you exactly what the app collects, why, who it is shared with, and how to get it deleted.
1. Data we collect
- Account data — email address, username, password (stored hashed), preferred language, and optionally your avatar and Instagram handle. If you sign in with Apple, Google or Facebook, we receive the identifier and the email address that provider returns to us, nothing more.
- Content you publish — the photos you submit, artwork titles, descriptions, tags, and the position you attach to a contribution. This content is public by design.
- Precise location — only when you actively ask for it: centring the map on yourself, browsing artworks around you, or geotagging a contribution. There is no background or passive location tracking, and the app never collects your position while it is closed.
- Photo library and camera — accessed only when you pick or take a photo for a contribution.
- Push notification token — a device identifier issued by Expo, used solely to deliver the notifications you enabled (contribution approved, badge unlocked).
- Diagnostics — when the app crashes or errors, we collect a crash report: device model, OS version, app version, stack trace, and the anonymous technical context of the failure.
- Advertising identifier — on iOS, only if you allow tracking when the system asks. On Android, the advertising ID subject to your consent choice. See section 4.
- Usage analytics — screens viewed and key actions inside the app, collected only if you consent. See section 5.
We do not collect your contacts, your calendar, your health data, your browsing history outside the app, or your precise location in the background.
2. Why we use it, and on what legal basis
- To run the service (account, map, contributions, moderation, notifications you enabled): performance of our terms of use with you.
- To keep the platform safe (reviewing submissions, handling reports, blocking abusive accounts): our legitimate interest in a lawful, non-abusive platform, and our legal obligations as a hosting provider.
- To fix crashes: our legitimate interest in a working app.
- Advertising and usage analytics: your consent, which you can give or refuse at any time (see sections 4 and 5).
- To take payment if you subscribe: performance of that contract.
We never sell or rent your personal data.
3. Moderation of published content
Every contribution is reviewed before it appears publicly. You can report any artwork, artist or user from inside the app, and block another user so their content disappears from your view. Reports are processed within 24 hours, and content that breaches our terms is removed and its author's account can be suspended. Reports include the reporting account and any comment you add, and are kept as long as needed to document the decision.
4. Advertising
The free tier of the app displays a single advertising banner, served by Google AdMob.
- On iOS, the system asks for your permission to track (App Tracking Transparency) before any advertising identifier can be read. If you refuse, we request non-personalised ads only and no advertising identifier is shared.
- On both platforms, where the GDPR requires it (European Economic Area and United Kingdom), Google's consent form is shown before any ad is requested. If you refuse there, no ad request is made at all and the banner simply does not appear.
- You can change your mind at any time in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking).
- Subscribing to Hunter Pro or Hunter Premium removes advertising from the app entirely.
Google acts as an independent controller for the advertising data it processes. See the Google privacy & terms.
5. Usage analytics
We use Firebase Analytics (Google) to understand which screens and features are used, so we can improve the app. It waits on the same consent decision as advertising: collection stays off until consent is given, and refusing changes nothing about how the app works for you. We only look at aggregated figures; we do not use analytics to profile you individually.
6. Crash reporting
We use Sentry to receive crash and error reports. A report contains the technical context of the failure and your user identifier when you are signed in, so we can reproduce the bug on the right account. It contains none of your content and no advertising identifier.
7. Payments
Hunter Pro and Hunter Premium are purchased on our website through Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe only and never reach our servers: we store your Stripe customer identifier, your plan and its status. Stripe processes the payment as an independent controller under its privacy policy.
8. Service providers
The app and the platform rely on the following processors and third-party services:
- Google — AdMob (advertising), Firebase Analytics (usage analytics), Google Sign-In, Google Maps and Google Play Services
- Sentry — crash reporting
- Expo — app delivery, over-the-air updates and push notification routing
- Stripe — subscription payments
- Brevo — newsletter emails, if you subscribed to it
- Meta — Facebook Login, if you choose to use it
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, if you choose to use it
- IONOS — hosting, on servers located in France
Some of these providers are established outside the European Union. Where that is the case, the transfer relies on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
9. How long we keep it
- Account data: until you delete your account.
- Published content: artworks that were approved stay on the map after an account is deleted, because they document public art, but they are no longer attributed to you.
- Crash reports: 90 days, our crash reporting provider's retention period.
- Audience measurement on the website: 13 months maximum, then destroyed automatically.
- Billing records: as long as accounting law requires.
10. Your rights
You can access and correct your data from your profile in the app. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw a consent you gave, at any time.
Deleting your account erases your account, profile, avatar, preferences, notifications, likes and badges, and cancels any active subscription. You can do it yourself in the app (Account → Delete my account), or follow the procedure at street-artwork.com/en/deletedata.
To exercise any of these rights, write to contact@street-artwork.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority; in France, that is the CNIL.
11. Children
The app is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), passwords are stored hashed, and access to production data is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data with appropriate measures.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. The date at the top of this page always reflects the version in force, and significant changes are announced in the app.
14. Contact
Any question about this Privacy Policy or about your data: contact@street-artwork.com.
