Where to find street art in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam)

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) has hosted a rapidly growing graffiti and mural art scene since the late 2000s. The movement first developed in the alleys (hẻm) of Districts 1 and 3, driven by artists such as Danny Daos (Daos501), considered one of the pioneers of graffiti in the city. These creators gradually transformed old residential building facades into surfaces for expression, often without official authorization.

Since 2021, institutional programs organized by foreign cultural institutes, notably the Institut français and the Goethe-Institut, have given new visibility to local mural art. The Saigon Urban Arts (SUA) festival enabled the painting of several apartment buildings in the Da Kao neighborhood (District 1), bringing together local and international artists around sustainable development themes. These interventions transformed ordinary buildings into visual landmarks of the district.

Artists such as SubyOne, a Franco-Vietnamese artist based in Saigon, help bridge the local scene and international graffiti networks. The city also offers a remarkable concentration of mural art around Bui Vien Street and along commercial avenues, where painted signs and narrative murals blend with colonial architecture.
