Map of street art in Pittsburgh (United States)

Pittsburgh is Pennsylvania's second city, located at the confluence of the Ohio River and its two tributaries, the Allegheny and the Monongahela. Once the world capital of steel, it has reinvented itself since the 1980s as a hub for education, healthcare, and technology, home to Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh.

Its street art scene developed around the Strip District (Penn Avenue), the historic wholesale market and red-brick warehouse quarter that has concentrated over a hundred mural frescoes since the 2010s. The Mural Arts Pittsburgh program and initiatives like the MLK Community Mural Project have produced works honoring local icons - Roberto Clemente, Andy Warhol, Fred Rogers - and documenting the post-industrial transformation of the city.

The North Side, East Liberty, and the Manchester neighborhood round out this mural panorama, making Pittsburgh a city where street art constantly engages with working-class memory and the identity of the African American and Latino communities who built the steel city.
