Map of street art in Honolulu (United States)
Honolulu is the capital of the State of Hawaii, on the south-east coast of O'ahu. An island metropolis and strategic naval port, the city blends Polynesian, Japanese, American and Asian cultures and counts around 350,000 inhabitants.
Its street art scene exploded from 2010 with the founding of the POW! WOW! Hawaii festival by Jasper Wong, which every February turns the industrial Kakaako neighbourhood into an international urban gallery. The festival has hosted KAWS, ROA, Cleon Peterson, CYRCLE, Aaron De La Cruz and many world artists.
Kakaako, between Downtown and Waikiki, now holds more than 150 murals on the walls of its warehouses, making it one of the Pacific's muralist hubs.
