Buffalo is the second-largest city in New York State, lying at the eastern end of Lake Erie on the Canadian border. A heavy industrial hub at the turn of the 20th century - steel, milling, shipyards - it endured a long demographic decline before a cultural revival anchored in the restoration of its Art Deco and Prairie School architecture, including several Frank Lloyd Wright buildings.
