Map of street art in Newcastle upon Tyne (United Kingdom)

The Ouseburn valley, an industrial cradle turned creative quarter, holds most of the city's mural painting. Under Byker Bridge, the two gable ends of the Ship Inn carry a piece by Dutch collective The London Police, with their black-and-white characters, and another by American artist Gaia. In 2018, for the Great Exhibition of the North, the Faunographic studio painted An Ancient Place on one of the bridge's legs, to a text by writer David Almond.

The same area holds the largest legal graffiti wall in the North East, at Dinsdale Place, a surface repainted continuously by writers from across the country. The ELEMENTS festival has recently begun programming large-format murals there, aiming to build a permanent free public gallery.

The city centre still carries traces of an Invader campaign spread across 2006, from 22 May to 27 September: eighteen mosaics along Pilgrim Street, Pudding Chare, The Side and Pink Lane, worth 390 points in the FlashInvaders game. Only three have gone in nearly twenty years.
