Map of street art in Cheltenham (United Kingdom)

Cheltenham is a Georgian spa town in Gloucestershire, in the west of England, better known for its mineral waters, its racecourse and its literature and music festivals. Cream stucco facades and listed terraces make an unlikely backdrop for large-scale painting, which is part of why the murals here read the way they do.

The local scene grew around the Cheltenham Paint Festival, founded in 2017 by artist Andy "Dice" Davies after years of paint jams held along the Honeybourne Line. Every summer the festival brings up to 125 British and international artists to some sixty walls, and the results can be walked for free over a route of roughly ten kilometres.

Three areas hold most of the work: the Honeybourne Line tunnels, a legal painting spot that serves as the town's hall of fame, the centre around Church Street, Henrietta Street and The Promenade, and Princess Elizabeth Way in the Hesters Way estate, where the gable ends of Cheltenham Borough Homes blocks were painted to form an art avenue known as The ARTery.
