Where to find street art in Dubai (United Arab Emirates)
Dubai is one of the most dynamic cities in the Middle East when it comes to street art. Since the transformation of the Al Quoz industrial district into a creative hub, with Alserkal Avenue at its heart, the city has attracted international and local artists who cover its walls with monumental murals. The Dubai Street Museum, launched in 2016, marked a turning point by bringing artists from around the world to 2nd December Street in the historic Al Satwa neighbourhood.
The City Walk district and Dubai Design District (D3) add to this offer with installations commissioned by property developers themselves, turning façades into open-air galleries. Artists such as eL Seed, Seth Globepainter and Hua Tunan have helped make Dubai an unexpected reference in the global street art scene, at the crossroads of Arab and international influences.
Alserkal Avenue remains the beating heart of Dubai's artistic scene, with more than 60 galleries, studios and creative spaces gathered within a square kilometre. Public art is omnipresent, blending contemporary Arabic calligraphy, figurative muralism and abstract installations that enter into dialogue with the city's modernist architecture.
