This Neuchâtel commune, created in 2018 from the merger of five lakeside villages, carries a Mona Lisa composed in blue-grey tiles.

Reworking Leonardo's painting is one of the most frequent exercises in urban art: an image the whole world recognises without having seen it, it allows play on hijacking, technique and quotation. The Lithuanian muralist Linas Kaziulionis painted a version with headphones, the French artist Zigom takes up video game icons by the same method.

The tile treatment attaches it to the family of urban mosaics, which emerged in Invader's wake and became a practice in its own right, with its artists, its hunters and its inventories. The canton of Neuchâtel is also home to the exomusée of Le Locle, one of the best documented bodies of mural art in Switzerland.
