Map of street art in Genève (Switzerland)
The city at the tip of Lake Geneva has a long-running graffiti scene, fed by its squats and industrial wastelands. Invader ran one of his earliest campaigns outside France here, from 18 September to 3 November 2000: 33 mosaics worth 530 points in the FlashInvaders game, only three of which have been lost in twenty-five years. His tiles hold the right bank, on rue des Bains, rue Rousseau, rue du Temple and quai Gustave-Ador.
Les Grottes, the district behind the station, remains the densest hunting ground, with painted walls, installations and reworked street furniture along its lanes. Charmilles, Pâquis, Carouge, Onex, Lancy and Meyrin also carry murals, often on the gable ends of housing blocks. In Pâquis, Egyptian artist Aya Tarek painted a tribute to Omar Sharif for the 2018 Antigel festival.
The local scene rests on venues as much as on names: the Îlot 13 squat, the Quartier Libre SIG space in the Pont de la Machine building, and the Pump up the Jam event, which moves to a different district each edition. Among active writers are Tones, with his skateboard and comics universe, and Eazy One, who works across Switzerland.
