Invader came through the Swiss capital very early: between 9 and 16 May 2000 he set 28 mosaics into its walls, one of his first outings beyond France. The tiles mark out the UNESCO-listed old town, along Gerechtigkeitsgasse and Bubenbergrain, then cross the Aare towards Grosser Muristalden. Ten have gone in twenty-five years, and the set is worth 460 points in the FlashInvaders game.
Graffiti in Bern revolves around a venue rather than a district: the Reitschule, the self-managed cultural centre on Neubrückstrasse, squatted in the 1980s and legalised after repeated evictions, whose walls and surroundings work as a permanent painting surface. Just beside it, Brückenstrasse lines up murals and installations that change regularly.
Only one legal wall is still running, at the NewGraffiti youth centre, two others having closed. That scarcity shapes the local scene: few commissioned large formats, and a great deal of painting along railway land and derelict plots, much as happens in Basel and Zurich beside the tracks.
