The Hanseatic town of Gotland, whose medieval wall and centre are UNESCO-listed, received Invader on 7 July 2001: three mosaics installed in a single day, worth 30 points in the FlashInvaders game, the lowest total among our European campaigns. All three are still in place.

The locations sit in the heart of the old town, Donners Plats, Hamngatan and Hästgatan, the streets running down from the centre towards the harbour. The medieval fabric, in limestone and dressed stone, protected as World Heritage, is never refaced: the best guarantee of survival a tile can hope for.

Twenty-four years without a loss, on a Baltic island exposed to frost and sea spray, makes this one of the most stable series in the inventory, set against the hundred per cent loss recorded on the San Diego campaign and in the cities around Los Angeles.
