This village in the Marina Alta, inland from Alicante, settled on a single medium: tile mosaic. All sixteen recorded pieces in its streets are pixel art cemented to walls, and thirteen carry the signature of Astro Boy. The technique is the one Invader made famous, applied here to a pop culture repertoire rather than to arcade aliens alone.
The mosaics punctuate carrer Riu Girona, carrer del Riu Vinalopó, avinguda del Mestre Santiago Almiñana and avinguda de Dénia, the roads that give the village its shape. Some sit on street furniture, such as the rabbit and flowers fixed to a bus shelter, others on a house corner at eye level.
The catalogue reads like a portrait gallery: Darth Vader, Minnie Mouse, Snoopy and Woodstock, the Toy Story alien, a local extraterrestrial named El marciano, and a whole wall of Space Invaders ships. The approach echoes other villages in the Valencian Community that have turned urban art into a reason to visit, among them Benigembla with its July international gathering.
