Where to find street art in Bucharest (Romania)

Bucharest, Romania's capital, hosts a thriving street art scene driven by public initiatives and cultural associations active since the 2010s. The Un-hidden programme, launched in 2012, played a pioneering role by inviting national and international artists to transform building facades across the city, particularly in the Floreasca, Berceni and Iancului neighbourhoods. These large-scale murals, often negotiated with property owners and local authorities, have redefined the perception of urban thoroughfares.

In 2024, the inaugural Bucharest Street Art Festival brought Romanian and international artists together at the Combinatul Fondului Plastic and the National Museum of Contemporary Art, featuring monumental graffiti, urban calligraphy, paste-ups and installations. In parallel, the cross-border BSBSA project (Belgrade Sofia Bucharest Street Art) brought Bulgarian and Serbian artists to create permanent murals in the city's residential neighbourhoods.

Bucharest stands out for the diversity of its mural production — from figurative realism to folk-inspired fantasy and experimental typography — cementing its place as one of the Balkans' emerging street art capitals.
