Map of street art in Faro (Portugal)
The capital of the Algarve received three Invader mosaics in late August 2016, between the 26th and the 29th, for 70 points in the FlashInvaders game. None has been lost.
The locations sit in the historic centre, on Praça Dom Francisco Gomes beside the marina, and on Rua Professor Norberto da Silva. The old town, ringed by walls and built around its cathedral, offers ancient protected surfaces on which a cemented tile does not shift.
Portugal is one of the countries where the artist is most present, with campaigns in Lisbon, Porto and several mid-sized towns. The country also has its own tile tradition, the azulejo, which contemporary artists such as Add Fuel reinterpret in the street: a video game mosaic set on a Portuguese wall therefore enters into conversation with a local use of tiling five centuries old.
