Map of street art in Isla Mujeres (Mexico)
This island of a few square kilometres, off Cancún, received two Invader mosaics on 18 July 2012, both on avenida Rueda Medina, the road running along the harbour and through the town. They are worth 60 points in the FlashInvaders game and are still in place.
A two-piece campaign on an island this size is a passing visit rather than a tour: the artist lands, installs, leaves on the next ferry. The code assigned to these pieces in fact attaches them to Cancún on the mainland, confirming they belong to a single trip.
The island lives on beach tourism and its fabric is made of low, colourful buildings, regularly repainted. That both tiles have survived thirteen years in that context, under a tropical climate and a few metres from the sea, is more remarkable than the number of pieces.
