Map of street art in Cancún (Mexico)
This Quintana Roo resort, built from nothing in the 1970s on a coastal sand bar, carries an Invader mosaic installed on 18 July 2012, on calle Leona Vicario, in the Alfredo V. Bonfil district. It is worth 20 points in the FlashInvaders game and is still in place.
On the same day the artist installed two further pieces on the neighbouring island of Isla Mujeres, half an hour away by boat. All three carry the same code, confirming they belong to a single visit.
The location is worth noting: it is not the hotel zone, that long sand bar lined with resorts, but the residential district where tourism workers live, away from the circuits. That is a constant of his urban choices, favouring lived-in districts over tourist seafronts, where facades belong to chains and are refaced every couple of years.
