Naples has a deep-rooted mural tradition shaped by popular culture and social tension. The Quore Spinato project, launched by the duo Cyop&Kaf in the 2000s, turned the alleyways of the Spanish Quarters into an open-air museum with over 250 works. The city also holds the only work in Italy officially attributed to Banksy - a "Madonna with a Gun" painted at Piazza Gerolomini in the historic centre.

The Quartieri Spagnoli, built in the 16th century to house Spanish troops, pack the highest density of urban art, including the famous Maradona mural on Via Emanuele De Deo, painted in 1990 by Mario Filardi. Forcella holds Jorit's monumental portrait of San Gennaro, over 15 metres tall. San Giovanni a Teduccio, Rione Sanità and Ponticelli round out the main zones for street art exploration.

Jorit (Jorit Ciro Cerullo) is the defining figure of the contemporary scene, recognized for his hyper-realistic portraits marked by two red stripes. At the Centro Direzionale, a 122-metre mural honouring the "Neapolitan trinity" of Maradona, Troisi and Pino Daniele is considered the world's tallest mural. Guided tours through these districts offer structured access to one of Europe's densest concentrations of outdoor urban art across Naples.
