Where to find street art in Mumbai (India)

Mumbai is India's financial capital and one of the world's most densely populated megacities. Its street art scene gained momentum in the 2010s through the St+art India Foundation, which transformed several neighborhoods — from Sassoon Dock to Dharavi, Mahim to Dadar — into open-air art districts. Monumental murals coexist with residential building facades, blending international artists with local creators.

The Mumbai Urban Art Festival (MUAF), launched in 2022 by St+art India in partnership with Asian Paints, established the city as a global street art capital. Across more than six art districts, engaged works dialogue with the city's social fabric: Dadar's flower vendors, Sassoon Dock's fishermen, and the residents of historic chawls. The festival attracted artists from Australia, Belgium, Ghana, and India.

Dadar, a working-class neighborhood famous for its flower market, has hosted remarkable murals on Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) buildings since 2023. These towers, often seen as symbols of rapid urbanization, have become platforms for artistic expression questioning the relationship between nature and the modern city.
