Few towns can claim such an inventory: more than four hundred works spread across walls, facades, street furniture, fencing and roller shutters. Vitry-sur-Seine built that reputation around one artist, Christian Guémy, known as C215, who set up his studio there in 2009 and whose small coloured stencil portraits went on to appear from Los Angeles to Moscow.
The trail mixes every register, from stencil to graffiti, from the discreet piece to the monumental mural covering a whole gable end. Some works are deliberately hidden, known only to insiders, to the point that residents walk past without knowing a wall on their street carries a signed piece.
The Val-de-Marne tourist office runs several walks through the collection, which renews itself continuously: the nature of this kind of gallery-town is that part of the work disappears each year, painted over or lost to building works. Invader passed through on 25 March 2013, leaving two mosaics worth 100 points in the FlashInvaders game, both still in place.
