Map of street art in Mondeville (France)

Bordering Caen to the south-east, this former industrial suburb was reshaped in the twentieth century by the Société métallurgique de Normandie steelworks, whose workers' housing on the Plateau went up between 1913 and 1930, and later by the retail parks that grew around Supermonde, the area's first hypermarket, opened in 1970. Murals began appearing here in the late 2010s.

The paintings are scattered between the residential districts of Les Charmettes, Le Plateau and Charlotte-Corday and the commercial zones: a warehouse on the Chaussée d'Alger, the Halle Valleuil painted by Tellas, the Pierre Lafond stadium gym covered by Obisk and the Louis Varin stadium. Rue Chapron, home to a Johan Moorman piece, and Rue Ambroise-Croizat and Rue Émile-Zola also appear in the Caen la mer street art booklet.

Much of the current scene comes from the Palma festival, founded in 2016, which invites artists to paint across the Caen area every year. Mondeville now holds works by Eltono and Alfe, made in residency with pupils from the Gisèle Guillemot and Jules Verne schools, as well as pieces by Germain Ipin, Arnaud Enroc and the duo Jiem & Mary.
