The porcelain capital found an unusual angle for its urban art: rather than gable ends, it is the empty shop windows of the city centre that serve as supports. Each edition of the Limoges d'Arts et de Feu festival hands around thirty vacant storefronts to collage artists, several of whom also show in galleries.
The technical choice matters: collage on glass is reversible and does not damage the support, which makes the operation acceptable for premises awaiting a new tenant. The works run along rue Adrien-Dubouché, rue Fourie and rue du Consulat, tracing a city-centre route that changes with each edition.
The event claims a link with the city's identity, that of the fire arts, by entrusting this heritage to artists from a transgressive culture. The remaining recorded work belongs to more conventional registers, from an underwater world painted on a wall to compositions of small coloured monsters, in a city where the monumental mural remains rare.
