Map of street art in Coulounieix-Chamiers (France)
In 2022, urban art gained an unprecedented scale in Coulounieix-Chamiers, a town in the Dordogne within the Grand Périgueux conurbation. On 6 and 7 August 2022, a graffiti jam called Énergie murale (Mural Energy) was held in the Chamiers district, then undergoing urban renewal. Around thirty graffiti writers from across France took part, with the stated aim of bringing mural painting to the public beyond museums and institutions.
The pieces spread across several sites in the district: avenue du Maréchal-de-Lattre-de-Tassigny, the espace Jacqueline-Auriol and rue des Izards, along with the cité Jean-Moulin, the municipal workshops and the former American camp. Documented works include a Tahitian goddess on the yellow-rendered facade of the technical services building and blue birds intertwining on another wall.
The project was initiated by the writer Emyr2, from Cénac-et-Saint-Julien, backed by the Périgord artists Madkow and Neur. It was supported by the town council, the social landlord Périgord Habitat and the All Boards Family association. No signposted trail or dedicated gallery is recorded to date, local output remaining tied to this one event.
