Map of street art in Colmar (France)
The capital of the Alsace wine route sets aside a free expression wall for writers, on the north side of the Ladhof stadium on rue Billing. It is the classic provision of mid-sized towns: an authorised support, continuously repainted, serving as training ground and shop window for the local scene.
The bulk of the regional offer, though, sits a few kilometres away at Neuf-Brisach, where MAUSA Vauban installed more than twelve hundred square metres of urban art in the casemates of the Vauban citadel. It holds work by C215, Seth, Levalet, Nasty, Denis Meyers, Pure Evil, Guy Denning, and Jérôme Mesnager, born in Colmar, whose white figures are among the oldest signatures in French street art.
The rest of the work recorded in the town is small format, notably the pixel art storks of Strasbourg artist Stork, whose motif echoes the regional emblem. The Street Art Map, which has been recording close to nineteen hundred works across Strasbourg and its conurbation since 2018, documents this scene at the scale of the whole of Alsace.
