Urban art took root in Bouguenais, part of the Nantes metropolitan area, back in 2007, when the town handed graffiti writers an authorised wall next to the branch town hall. This legal spot joined the « Murs libres » (free walls) network set up around Nantes so painting could happen without fines. Around the turn of the 2020s the scene widened, as the municipal youth service launched a mural project on electrical transformers with Enedis.

The Les Couëts district holds most of the activity, with two walls near the sociocultural centre repainted on a regular basis. The transformer pieces, meanwhile, were carried out on rue du Planty and chemin du Vieux Clos, close to the hamlets of La Couillauderie and Les Bauches du Désert, chosen for their location along hiking trails.

The standout figure is Ador, a writer who once lived in the area and produces large colourful compositions with his friends; he is counted among the new Nantes generation noted alongside Semor. The transformer works were overseen by the local collective Plus de Couleurs during an urban-art week.
