Aurec-sur-Loire is a French commune in Haute-Loire, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, with around 5,800 inhabitants. Located at the exit of the Loire Gorges, on the border of the Loire department, it is a small town that combines medieval heritage (castle, Saint-Roch chapel) with a riverside landscape.
Its street art scene has grown around the Murmurs Aurec festival, organised each summer since 2022 by the Loire en Couleurs association. Each edition invites a dozen French muralists to transform the façades of the town centre. The Voyage immobile mural by Toulouse-based muralist Rémi Tournier, painted in 2024, ranked 13th best mural in the world on Street Art Cities.
Aurec-sur-Loire is part of an emerging French rural mural circuit alongside Lurcy-Lévis, Saint-Quentin-Fallavier and Belin-Béliet.
