Map of street art in Quito (Ecuador)
Quito is the capital of Ecuador, perched at 2,850 meters above sea level on the slopes of the Pichincha volcano in the Andes mountain range. Its historic center — one of the best preserved in Latin America — has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978.
The street art scene developed mainly in the bohemian La Floresta neighborhood from the 2010s onward, driven by artists like Apitatán, Toofly, and Daniel Adum Gilbert. The walls and facades of the district display monumental frescoes blending pre-Columbian motifs, Andean mythology, and contemporary pop imagery.
A driving force of Ecuadorian contemporary muralism, Quito also hosts more politically charged interventions opposite the National Assembly and along Avenida América, where urban art regularly engages with social events — from marriage equality to indigenous protests.
