Where to find street art in Curitiba (Brazil)

Curitiba's street art movement took shape in the second half of the 1990s, with early pioneers active in neighborhoods like Pilarzinho and Xaxim from 1997 onward. The city is now recognized as Brazil's second-largest graffiti center after São Paulo, a status formalized in 2024 with the adoption of a municipal Urban Art Law regulating and promoting street art interventions.

Rua São Francisco, in the São Francisco neighborhood, is the most prominent open-air gallery, with dozens of works commissioned through the Projeto Arte Urbana launched in 2013. The Centro Cívico, Água Verde, and Portão districts also host significant mural concentrations, while Xaxim and Pilarzinho have retained their role as testing grounds since the movement's early days.

Michael Devis, Rimon Guimarães, and Leandro Lesak are among the most active local muralists. The Street of Styles festival, an international event drawing artists from over 20 countries, has helped position the city on the global graffiti map. Among the landmark works is Rogério Dias' 50-meter panel depicting Iguazu Falls at the Centro Cívico.
