Where to find street art in Liège (Belgium)

Liège is the largest city in Wallonia, nicknamed the 'Ardent City' for the passionate character of its residents. Its relationship with street art is rooted in an institutional history rare in Europe: since 2002, the city-run Paliss'art programme has entrusted walls to artists each year, generating over ninety murals across the urban area.

The historic centre, Outremeuse and the Guillemins district concentrate the most monumental works. In 2019, 'L'Homme de la Meuse' set a national record with 1,200 m² of painted surface. World-renowned artists work alongside local creators trained by the Spray Can Arts association, which has driven the scene since 2004.

The city also hosts occasional festivals such as 'Murs Grands Ouverts', and Paliss'art continues to evolve, shifting its selection towards monumental muralism and collaborations with private partners to regenerate transforming neighbourhoods such as Paradis Express.
