Where to find street art in Tirana (Albania)

Tirana, the capital of Albania, underwent a radical artistic transformation from the early 2000s when Mayor Edi Rama launched a campaign to paint building facades, reshaping a city still bearing the marks of the communist era. This initiative laid the groundwork for a thriving street art scene, now driven by events such as MurAL Fest.

Founded in 2018, MurAL Fest invites local and international artists each year to paint the walls of the city's iconic neighborhoods — Blloku, Kombinat, Lapraka — with large-scale murals. Supported by the municipality and the Urban Art Lab 167bstreet, the festival has turned Tirana into a key destination for urban art enthusiasts across the Balkans.

Today, Tirana's streets offer a rich artistic itinerary blending social realism, geometric abstraction, and tributes to Albanian culture. The Blloku and New Bazaar districts concentrate many of the most documented works, making the city one of Southeast Europe's emerging street art capitals.
