'Perception' is a monumental anamorphic work created by eL Seed in March 2016 in the Manshiyat Naser (Zaraeeb) district of Cairo, a Coptic Christian community that collects and recycles the city's waste. The calligraphy in white, orange and blue is spread across approximately 50 buildings and becomes legible only from a single vantage point on Mokattam Mountain. It quotes Saint Athanasius of Alexandria (3rd century): 'Anyone who wants to see the sunlight clearly needs to wipe his eye first.'
