Born in Zurich in 1939, Harald Naegeli started spraying single line figures on the walls of his city at night in September 1977. Close to nine hundred of them appeared in under two years, and the press named him the Sprayer of Zurich. Arrested in June 1979, he was sentenced in absentia to nine months in prison and a fine of 206,000 francs, confirmed by the Federal Supreme Court in November 1981. …

A single line figure sprayed in black on the north wall of the German department of the University of Zurich, in 1978. It is one of the few figures by the Sprayer of Zurich to have escaped the clean ups: protected during the 1995 to 2004 works, it was restored in October 2004.
