Rakaposhii is a Cologne artist and a fixture of the Ehrenfeld district, whose alias is borrowed from a peak in the Karakoram range in Pakistan. His work draws on spiritual, meditative imagery — reclining Buddhas, trees of life, mystical symbols drawn in white line on dark grounds — and also ventures into mural calligraphy, with large supple lettering in pastel tones. A long black wall drawn entirely in white line: a large bare tree spreads its branches across the full width, while the Kabbalistic tree of life is superimposed as yellow paths linking ten coloured discs. Around it, a seated meditator, an eye in a triangle topped by a heart, a domed temple, a goat-headed figure accompanied by a long-haired woman and a fish skeleton complete the symbolic bestiary, between two painted red curtains.
