Painted on the wall of the Atelierzentrum Ehrenfeld at 69 Hospeltstraße, this mural by Brazilian artist Claudio Ethos came out of the CityLeaks urban art festival in 2013. Within a wide white oval cut out of the charcoal-grey render, an arm draped in crumpled cloth holds a reel film camera, one hand grips a wad of banknotes escaping from the drapery and another closes around an oversized toothbrush. The whole is sprayed in photorealistic greyscale, carrying over the ballpoint pen line the artist scales up to wall size, and signed "Ethos" in the bottom right corner. Money, the filmed image and a mundane act of hygiene are brought together in a wry allegory of consumption and media scrutiny, a recurring register in Ethos' work.
