Klaus Klinger, born in 1954 in Essen, is a muralist based in Düsseldorf. He studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1973 to 1980, under Gerhard Richter among others, and in 1977 co-founded the Wandmalgruppe Düsseldorf, out of which the non-profit Farbfieber grew in 1987. Klaus Klinger painted this facade at 15 Kiefernstraße in 2008: the whole wall is a wooden trompe-l'oeil, with arcades, balustrades and figures leaning out of the windows. Three slogans run from floor to floor, "Besetzt leere Häuser statt andere Länder", "Ordnung muß sein" and "Zurück zur Normalität", echoing the street's squatting past. At street level two garden gnomes guard a painted police van, below a clock and a blue door.
