Klaus Klinger, born in 1954 in Essen, is a muralist based in Düsseldorf. He studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1973 to 1980, under Gerhard Richter among others, and in 1977 co-founded the Wandmalgruppe Düsseldorf, out of which the non-profit Farbfieber grew in 1987. Oversized faces cover the facades of the parish houses next to the Elisabeth church in Flingern, each portrait threaded between the windows, which made the composition far harder than a blank wall. The work is signed by the Farbfieber collective around Klaus Klinger, with Marc Hennig, Paola Ramirez, Benni Noah, Marq Eichberger and Elisa Tonisch; the parish commissioned it for the 800th anniversary of its patron saint.
