A monumental mural by the Greek painter Fikos, unveiled on 5 September 2021 on the gable of the Écomotive Café, at the corner of Place des Marseillaises and Boulevard d'Athènes, in full view of the monumental stairway of Saint-Charles station. It belongs to Les Murs d'Audubon, a programme run by COAL and Planète Émergences after the ornithological plates of John James Audubon, to raise the alarm on the disappearance of birds. Six species perch on a web of beige branches, treated in the blacks, greys and ochres of the artist's contemporary Byzantine painting: a hoopoe, a black-eared wheatear, a blue rock thrush and a black and white passerine for the Mediterranean, plus two American species, a thrasher and a nutcracker. At the centre, one bird carries the features of Pytheas, the Greek navigator of Massalia, a nod to the city's Phocaean origins. The ground floor, home to the cafe, is ringed with graffiti lettering that contrasts with the softness of the birds.
