Nelson Dos Reis

Nelson Dos Reis is a Brussels artist and a member of the Farm Prod collective. He paints hybrid creatures halfway between human and animal, in soft flat colour laid over tiled or geometric grounds, in a vein drawn straight from Bruegel's bestiary. In May 2019 he made Sloth on rue Saint-Ghislain in Brussels, one of the Bruegel Trail panels devoted to the seven deadly sins.

A mural painted in May 2019 for the Bruegel Trail, created for the 450th anniversary of the death of Pieter Bruegel the Elder. It draws on a fantastical creature from the engraving Desidia, Sloth, in the Seven Deadly Sins series. A wall tiled throughout in a gradient of blue, sea green, sand and orange forms the ground for the elongated body of a pale yellow beast topped by a white human face with a long nose and closed eyes, wearing a red cap pierced by a white blade. Golden scissors motifs float on the right, and black and red tags cover the lower part of the mural.
