A ceramic mosaic mural unveiled in November 2023 by the City of Brussels for the 20th anniversary of the law opening marriage to same-sex couples in Belgium. Its full title, Diversity: the union as more than the sum of its parts, states the idea: each tessera, with its own colour, only takes on meaning once assembled with the others. Running the full height of a narrow gable on rue Haute, a face in profile dissolves into broad bands in the colours of the rainbow flag, pouring from the forehead down to a pointed white collar before unravelling into ribbons. The black ground, streaked with white diagonals, brings out the cut of the tesserae.
