Albert Uderzo (Fismes, 1927 - Neuilly-sur-Seine, 2020) was the French artist behind Asterix. He met René Goscinny in 1951 at the International Press agency, and their collaboration produced Oumpah-Pah and then, in October 1959 in Pilote magazine, Asterix the Gaul, whose first album appeared in 1961. On the gable of Rue de la Buanderie, the Gaulish charge sweeps across the whole wall: Asterix, Obelix and the entire village run to the right, fists raised and helmets flying, in a cloud of white dust rendered in flat colour. The mural reproduces a page from Asterix in Belgium by Goscinny and Uderzo, unveiled in 2005 as part of the Brussels comic strip route.
