Painted in 2022 by Portuguese artist Jorge Charrua, who dated his signature in Roman numerals at the top right of the panel. A woman with long grey and black hair, a pink jacket open over an orange top, is painted in sharply cut planes of colour, the left half of her face falling into a blue shadow. Behind her a landscape of blue buildings is worked flat, like a cut-paper set. The title "Fade" answers that blending of figure and setting, both held in the same range of blues, pinks and oranges, and the way the face is split between light and shadow.
