Biography
Pejac, real name Silvestre Santiago, is a Spanish artist born in 1977 in Santander. Trained in fine art in Salamanca and then Italy, he developed a form of urban art that runs counter to graffiti: discreet, poetic and minimalist.
A master of trompe-l'œil and 'subtractive' interventions, he plays with the surfaces, cracks and shadows of buildings to slip in tiny silhouettes and nods to art history - from Monet to Goya and Hokusai. His often ephemeral works favour subtlety over spectacle.
From Paris to Hong Kong, Tokyo, Istanbul and Aberdeen, his interventions have spread around the world, while keeping a strong tie to his home city of Santander.
