Biography

Scobe, who also signs as Suga, is a Berlin graffiti writer based in Prenzlauer Berg. He paints regularly at the Mauerpark, the former border strip between East and West turned into a free painting zone, where walls are covered over continuously and a piece lasts only a few days.

His repertoire turns on the skull and the monster: yellow death's heads, red creatures, distorted faces handled in flat colour and heavy outline, legible from a distance in a place where everything overlaps. The constraint of an ephemeral support shaped that economy of means.

Not all his pieces are gratuitous. He devoted one of them to the situation of homeless people, in Berlin and elsewhere, in the form of a face painted in memory of those who live on the street. His walls can also be seen elsewhere in the district, notably on the large collective surfaces of Bernauer Strasse.
