Shandoul

Mohammed Shandoul is a Libyan muralist and a rising figure on his country's art scene. He started painting in 2012, aged 17, on the walls of Camp 77 in Bab al-Azizia, Gaddafi's former headquarters in Tripoli. Favouring vibrant, soothing colours in harmony with their surroundings, he has created participatory murals on Tripoli's waterfront and worked with UNHCR in 2021 to help refugees express themselves through mural art. His works brighten the streets of Tripoli and Misrata, and he takes part in international artistic exchanges, including in France with the Artivista Project.
