Biography
Kyle Holbrook is an American muralist and community activist born in Wilkinsburg, a suburb of Pittsburgh. Graduating in graphic design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh (2002), he founded the same year the MLK Community Mural Project (Moving the Lives of Kids), which has since become the largest youth-led mural initiative in North America.
Through this program, the artist has created more than 800 frescoes across 49 US states and 43 countries, involving more than 928,000 young people in the creative process. Among his landmark projects: an intervention in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake (UN-funded) and a wall on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict produced alongside Banksy (2015).
His works have been covered by The New York Times, AP, USA Today, Newsweek, NBC, and CBS. He holds the record for the most murals in Allegheny County and continues to work worldwide with communities outside conventional artistic circuits.
