Biography
Mehdi Ghadyanloo is an Iranian artist born in 1981 in Karaj, trained in painting at the University of Tehran and then in animation at Tarbiat Modares University. He began painting public walls in 2004 as part of the Tehran Municipality urban beautification program.
Between 2004 and 2011, the artist produced more than a hundred monumental frescoes across the streets of the capital, turning entire facades into architectural illusions. His visual vocabulary blends trompe-l'œil, surrealism, and geometry: ladders floating in the sky, pastoral landscapes bursting through concrete walls, impossible staircases inspired by Escher.
His work has since reached well beyond Iran, with commissions and exhibitions in Boston, Geneva, and several European cities. Represented by Almine Rech and Tehran's Dastan Gallery, he is today considered one of the most recognized muralists in the Middle East.
