Biography
Carlos Callizo is a Spanish artist born in 1965, a painter and muralist known for his large-scale, expressive portrait work. He is a professor of painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Murcia, holding a Cum Laude doctorate in Fine Arts, and received the Spanish National Fine Arts Award in 2008.
His mural practice is defined by oversized faces rendered through layered vivid colors, paint drips, and gestural marks — creating a tension between photographic realism and lyrical abstraction. His works cover entire building facades, transforming ordinary surfaces into spaces for reflection.
Callizo has participated in street art festivals across Turkey, China, Poland, and France, and is regularly invited to international muralism events across Europe. His murals have become lasting landmarks in cities such as Istanbul, Murcia, and beyond.
