Biography
Doa Oa is a Spanish muralist born in Sober, in the province of Lugo, Galicia. A Fine Arts graduate of the University of Vigo and a senior technician in artistic photography, she has developed since 2014 a long-running mural project titled Reforestando, conceived as a worldwide urban herbarium.
Each mural depicts a native, wild or medicinal plant species from the place where she paints — poppies, arnica, belladonna, hawthorn, mallow — composed at very large scale in precise botanical photo-realism. The plant elements are often deconstructed by a wind effect, like botanical plates pulverised in space.
She paints across Spain (Galicia, Castile, Navarre, Extremadura), in the United States and in Africa. Her Papaver dubium mural in Azagra (Navarre, 2024) ranked 19th best mural in the world on Street Art Cities.
