Biography
Word to Mother is a London-based British artist raised in a southern English seaside town. He started writing graffiti as a teenager in the early 2000s, then gradually shifted to a figurative illustration practice in watercolour, marker and paint, with an instantly recognisable melancholic pastel palette.
His works blend female figures, wrestlers, animals and childhood fragments, laid on salvaged wood panels, painted murals or ceramic surfaces. He is also a tattooist and regularly publishes limited print editions with Jealous Gallery in London.
He has painted in the street in London (Leake Street, Shoreditch), Brighton, Bristol, Berlin (Urban Nation), Los Angeles (Branded Arts), New York and Honolulu (POW! WOW! Hawaii). He is represented by Stolen Space in London and Branded Arts in Los Angeles.
