Herr von Bias

Herr von Bias, also known as HRVB, is a Berlin-based illustrator and muralist who grew up in Marzahn, the largest Plattenbau estate of former East Germany. He picked up graffiti in the mid-1990s and has worked as a freelance illustrator and mural artist since 2009, as a member of The Weird collective. His detailed style decomposes and rearranges grotesque cartoon characters in saturated palettes where light and shadow drive the composition. His colourful murals are scattered across Berlin — including the SpongeBob piece above the Lido music venue in Kreuzberg — and he took part in the seminal The Haus project.
